Social Action

Volunteering Barnet is calling out to individuals and local community groups in the borough who are looking to bring about a positive change in the borough through Social Action. This will involve working closely with community groups to support the development of one-off, or a series of one-off events, that will then be delivered by a team of local volunteers.

Volunteering Barnet defines Social Action as:
“Empowering people to tackle community needs and engage in improvements of their area with lasting effects”

Areas of social engagement could include the following: Health, Ageing and Care; Young People and Social Mobility; Rehabilitation; Community Action; Employment and Prosperity; and Digital.

A past example of social action includes the Mill Hill Bridleway Clean Up where Volunteering Barnet was approached by a local resident in Mill Hill who wanted to clean up a bridleway. He was provided with support in recruiting local volunteers and developing an event plan as well as provided with the appropriate equipment from the council to clean up the space. If you believe your organisation could benefit from Social Action, or if you would like to know more, then please email Rupal Shah on rupal.shah@groundwork.org.uk or call  0207 960 4283.
