Featured Volunteer Opportunities 11.03.2018

This week our opportunities include the chance to volunteer on your local waterways, get help to elderly people who haven't been able to reach it before, and gain retail sales skills experience. There's also a fantastic opportunity to learn how to maintain woodland and even help out with horticulture courses!

As always, you can contact us with any queries you have, or there's our weekly drop-in where you can talk to us in person. It's entirely free and there's no need to book.

Star opportunity of the week:

Woodland Project Volunteer – The Pavilion Study Centre

Are you interested in the outdoors, landscaping and greenery? The Pavilion Study Centre has a small woodland area, about the size of half a football pitch and are looking for volunteers to help maintain it. The Centre also runs horticulture courses for students and would welcome support to help the students transform the area.

Towpath Ranger – Canal and River Trust
Do you care about the state of your local waterways? The Canal and River Trust are looking for volunteers to encourage local residents to stay safe on towpaths and promote campaigns. Induction and training provided.

Logo Designer – UpReach in the Community
Graphic designer wanted! UpReach is at an exciting and crucial stage of development and needs the expertise of someone able to design their logo and website page. The logo you design will be used across all social media platforms as well as on the website and promotional materials.

Community Ambassador – Age UK Barnet
Are you passionate about services for the elderly in your community? Join Age UK Barnet's friendly team to raise awareness of their services to the local people. Confident communication skills, a friendly disposition and the ability to carry some printed materials such as leaflets and posters is required.

Charity Shop Assistant – All Aboard Shops
Interested in boosting your retail sales skills? All Aboard are looking for efficient and proactive volunteers to assist the shop manager in sorting out goods, ticketing, pricing, window and shop displays, and cashier duties. You will be working as part of our friendly team benefitting the community.

Mentor (Meadway) – The Pavilion Study Centre
The Pavilion Study Centre is looking for mentors for very vulnerable young people who are facing a wide range of challenges. They all want someone to trust who doesn’t judge them. The aim of volunteer mentors is not to act as therapists but to motivate and encourage students in a positive way, showing sensitivity and being prepared to listen. If this could be you, why not apply?
