Thank you for celebrating with us!
Our Volunteers’ Week Fair last week was a great success! More than 100 people came to the artsdepot in North Finchley on Wednesday 6 June to find out about some of the ways they could volunteer in the borough, as well as meet existing volunteers and even try their hand at micro-volunteering.
In the morning we had a great session meeting individuals from 20 different organisations. The session covered resolving difficulties, Barnet Councils ESV sessions and an open forum.
Volunteers from All Aboard shops and Friend in Need were also recognised in an award ceremony, some of them celebrating 22 years of volunteering. The Mayor Designate, Cllr Reuben Thompstone, distributed the certificates and praised volunteers across the borough. He said
“I hold a deep sense of gratitude and respect to those who give so much time and energy to the betterment of the people of Barnet.”
If you weren’t able to make the fair, there’s still plenty of chance to get involved. You can search for opportunities online via our database here, or if you’re not sure where to start, why not come along to our drop-in where you can talk with us face-to-face for free? You are also welcome to phone us or email us, using the details on the contact us page.
We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who came, including the 30 organisations who held stalls on the day. We heard some fantastic stories of volunteering and the community spirit in the borough, and we hope you found out more about some of the volunteering roles available.
A full list of the organisations who were present on the day is included below, and thank you to all our partners and supporters for their continued dedication to volunteering in Barnet.
